The 2025 Spring Festival Gala in Ottawa, held on February 7, was a spectacular event that delighted audiences with an extraordinary variety show. Featuring remarkable performances by renowned Chinese and local artists, this grand event showcased a diverse array of talents, including dancers, vocalists, instrumentalists, opera performers, acrobats, and a magician, ensuring an unforgettable evening of entertainment. One of the evening’s highlights was the dynamic and versatile tenor Corey Arnold and the renowned soprano Ania Hejnar. They captivated the audience with stunning opera excerpts, including “Nessun Dorma” from Turandot and “O Mio Babbino Caro” from Gianni Schicchi. Adding to the excitement, the acclaimed Chinese acrobat Liu Wei dazzled the crowd with breathtaking performances, characterized by elegance, strength, and grace. Hailing from China, Zhang Guojun showcased his mastery of the traditional Chinese musical instrument, the Hulusi. His performance offered the audience a mesmerizing experience of authentic Chinese music. To add a touch of enchantment to the evening, magician Li Dongjin presented a series of spellbinding illusions that left everyone in awe. The gala also featured collaborative acts that blended the talents of dancers, vocalists, instrumentalists, and traditional Chinese art performers from the Huaxing Arts Group of Ottawa.
